Teardrop: Research
We started seeing these little teardrop shaped trailers going down the road and started wondering what they where. Once we knew the name, it was easy to find sites for them.
“You mean, it can sleep two and you open the hatch and that’s your galley? If it’s raining you just close it and drive away? No wet canvas? No wet clothes? No wet anything? I’m in!”
I still want to drive the Dempster (Dawson City to Inuvik), but I want to camp it. This sounded too perfect. Small. Light. No excess problems to worry about… especially finding a place to empty your septic tank. Light enough to be pulled by a car, and the perfect size for two people. It’s like a boat that travels on the land.
We researched a number of options… you can see some of the photos that we used fro reference, but ultimately settled on plans called a Wyoming Woody, whose website was invaluable for building my Teardrop, his build journal can be found at Teardropbuilder.com
Then, as I got closer to the electrical, I found Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers who have seemingly unlimited resources on just about everything you’re going to come across, and then there’s always YouTube. I spend hours watching How To’s on various elements of the build.
Here’s a number of pics that found and examined in more detail for inclusion in teardrop
