Teardrop Trailer

Teardrop: Second Most Important Item Installed

Some would argue that this is the most important item, and to finally have it installed looks great and certainly starts to get more and more excitement in the way of finishing everything. If you’re wondering why I consider it the second most important item to install, read on!

The Bed

We purchased this bed from Amazon. It’s a queen size, to a little larger than the teardrop, but it’s foam and easy to cut down.

The reviews were up and down on it. 8″ thick and some people said that it didn’t even expand to 4″. For those of you that don’t know, all foam product is wrapped in plastic and then the air is vacuumed out to make it smaller. It will compress incredibly small, in fact, when you’re doing upholstery, the way you get your foam pillows back in the cases is to put the foam in a plastic bag (think garbage bag) and use your vacuum cleaner to suck the air out of the bag. You’ll be surprised at how small it will go.

We laid the bed our our bed to let it expand. The manufacturer suggested 24 hours but in less than one, it was to full size.

We cut it down and then installed it in the cabin. I tried to cover it for the pics, but you’ll see it’s pretty messy. That’s because I only had access from one side since the trailer was pushed to the far side of the garage for winter.

Still, it’s a pretty sight and exciting.

As to “why it’s second most important item?” That’s because the bar is the MOST important. 😉

See you next year.
